Points to
keep in mind:-
While solving Addition or Subtraction the greater
number sign has to be written to its answer
Eg-) -6 + 5= -1
(- +=- so
6-5= 1 and 6 is the greater number and its sign
is – therefore the answer will
be -1)
Eg 2) -7 + (-2)= -9
Must remember each number has it sign i.e.
positive (+) or negative (-) to its right-hand side, If it has 2 signs convert
it into 1 sign and then solve.
(Here,-7 has one sign and 2 is having 2 signs that
is + and – so convert it into one sign from the above table
i.e. + - = -
Therefore -7 -2 nowhere both the numbers are
having their own signs, then our next step will be considering the signs first
and then the numbers
- - = +, 7+2= 9 and sign of the greater number is -, therefore
answer is -9)
While solving Multiplication or Division sums
greater number sign is not considered and the sign (table) is considered.
Eg 1) -6 X 1= -6
(Here first multiply the numbers 6 X 1=6, then
consider the sign, 6 is having – sign and 1 has no sign, (if any number doesn't
has any sign it will be considered as positive (+) sign always) and 1 is having
+ sign
Therefore, - + =- So the answer will be -6
Eg 2) -7 X -3 = 21
(First, multiply the numbers i.e. 7X3=21, then
considered the sign here 7 is having negative (-) sign and 3 is also having
negative (-) sign, - - = + therefore 21 will have + sign)
(Same steps for Division)
